!!!ATTENTION!!!: ~ Prepare yourself... This will be a long post! ~

!!!DISCLAMER BEFORE READING!!!: ~ I am not criticizing anyone, or their choices. Do as you wish it is still your life and you chose what you will do with it. I am here to give you my honest opinion and to help out if I can. I had no intention to hurt anyone so please don’t take it personal and respect my thoughts as I will do the same with you! ~
~ Thank you! ~

One of my first posts in 2015 was this topic, but it included only girl cosplayers. Now because we have boy cosplayers as well, I decided to re-visit this topic and talk about sexy cosplay, and how we see sexy male cosplays in society. So here we go!

Metal Gear Rising – Raiden by Jeff Siegert

To make this journey easier we will use the same questions as we did in the post about girls.

~ WHAT IS CONSIDERED A SEXY COSPLAY?

For male population sexy cosplay has its variety. Sexy cosplay for most of the female population can go from a very nice face features and body physic with a full cosplay on to half naked or naked bodies. To most of woman having a great face ad showing your abs is enough to make them go crazy. Sadly the principle is the same... The less you have on a great body, the sexier you are. Like having a bikini is a sexy cosplay for girls, being shirtless and in tight pants (or spido in some cases) counts as a sexy cosplay for men. The more abs you show, the better.

Attack on Tiatn – ErenTitan by Rhys Berresford

~ IS SEXY COSPLAY GOOD OR BAD?

Same goes as it did for girls. Depending on how the man portray their cosplay it can be bad or good. Doing stripping in a wig with some makeup on can not be a good cosplay. The cosplay has to be done the way it was meant to look, nothing should be modified or changed on it.

Batman - Nightwing by Carlos Blanchard

~ ARE COSPLAY COSTUME MODIFICATIONS OKAY?

Whatever is the reason for modifying a costume, I personally think it is not okay. The design is made as it should be and any modification is ruining the original design. Yes your costume may not be 100% same color or something might not stand as it should, but modifying it to that extent that it is not recognizable isn’t okay. Modifications to make the costume functional is mostly what male cosplayers do. Some of the designs are defying all laws of gravity, so having extra parts is very welcome and that is reasonable and okay.

Star Wars – Bobba Fett by Kelan Ord

~ IS THERE SUCH A THING AS A TO REVEALING, SLUTTY OR TO SEXY COSTUME?

Yes there is. Don’t think girls are the only ones doing this oh no no no. Some men think that dressing in a spido that has and S on them and putting a cape on makes them a perfect Superman. Guys you got it wrong. Girls do like eye candy but sometimes seeing things like this on conventions makes us sick to our stomach. We like to keep our spido Batmans or Supermans at the local strip club thank you very much. Some might go an extra mile and get naked. Show their body and just cover their middle area.

Source unknown

~ IS THERE SUCH A THING AS A SEXY VERSION OF A COSTUME?

No there is not. I personally thing doing Snake in just pants is not a sexy version of costume. I will eather think you are too hot or that you forgot the full costume. If the costume is to be do0ne it should be done by the rules cause some don’t make sense without the full gear on.

Solid Snake – Metal Gear Solid by an unknown cosplayer

~ SEXY POSING IN SEXY COSPLAY? IS IT OK?

Yes it is, if this character has some sexy poses it is ok. Man mostly don;t have sexy posing. Their posing rarely contains something sexual and provocative. But of course there are some that might go an extra mile and get naked and pose for the cosplay. For me this is to much and I consider it very low to use your naked body as a way for promoting your cosplay skills. The poses might not look provocative but naked bodies are...

League of Legends - Yasuo by Elffi

~ GENDER BEND SEXY COSTUMES. HOT OR NOT?

Gender bend costumes can be great costumes, depending on a design made by the cosplayer. This is a relatively okay thing, and it got very popular. Though I am not a fan of gender bends, because I think you should stay true to the character you cosplay. As always, like any other costumes, these costume designs, that are freely done by a person making a cosplay, can go over board like with girls with guys too.

Pochahontas – Pochahontas by Junkers

~ ARE YOU DOING THIS FOR ATTENTION?

This question is also asked by some haters as it was for girls. Though girls get it mostly directly, guys are mostly gossiped from behind them and in silence. Maybe because being buff for a cosplay has its good qualities, people get scared thinking they are strong and might hit them so they rarely get it straight in their face. But don’t be fooled there are some people who will tell male cosplayers and ask them if they are doing this to get some hot chicks.

Final Fantasy – Jecht by Elffi

~ YOU WORE A SEXY COSTUME! YOU ASKED FOR IT!

The last thing I wish to talk about just a little bit is harassment of any kind towards cosplayers who wear sexy costumes. And yes even man get it.
They might not get it straight on the convention but online they do get harassed quite often, and might as well say more them woman. They get criticized that they don’t have either the body for the cosplay or the face and when they do they get screaming fangrils who might go overboard and cause a scene.
On conventions the only harm they can get is from woman and gay men, the improper touching may occur here as well and of coarse they will not tolerate it, Just cause you are a girl doesn’t mean you can touch a male cosplayer everywhere. I know he can’t hit you but take a chill pill and let them have their space. They are getting harassed as much as the girls are and maybe even more cause they can’t tell the bodyguards of the convention this girl touched my abs and get away with it without the body guards laughing in their face. It is sad to say they don’t have anything but their own protection but yet again the same goes for them. You wanted to do the sexy costume so deal with all of this.

Mortal Combat – Sub Zero by Danquish

So in other words males are getting equally , and in some moments more abused then girls. Even if they wear a full body costume looking the way someone expects them to can get them in a situation where millions of fans touch them improperly. But if they are doing the sexy costumes it doubles up. So in general guys try to make a balance like girls and also remember that you should take most of the consequences on yourself cause you wanted to do that costume!

Scarlett , she is a child. That is a way to express her creativity so in that way I have no problem with it. Besides she is a child she just does it for fun unlike other people who try to do it for attention or fame! it will pay off! MumboJumbo , I agree that striptease is fun! It's a cool job for people who feel very confident in themselves!

Wow. This is the best text for newbies like me, who are still preparing to dabble in cosplay. Still, I am an 11-year-old boy, so I can't cosplay any of my favorite characters. I find inspiration for the future in your texts. Great bit about the Batmen and Supermen, everyone agrees.

Same as a striptease, when men do it, it's never sexy but always fun AF!

Boamund, I agree with you same goes to girls deal with the consequences, but some people can go really overboard... And for online it depends on a person as well of course! Catwhisperer, Omg thank you did not correct that cause I used the the previous girl one to make this one. xD And I am not a fan of gender bend I like to represent it the way it is suppose to be. If I want to do a male cosplay I will crossplay. I will make my boobs disappear (however I can XD) and be a man. But yes this will be a totally different blog post! Tumang, I did not mean body paint. That is amazing, I meant the ones that do the face and get in spido. You know showing skin. Body paint for me is not cosplay but is a way of art to be honest. Cause cosplay mean Costume and Roleplay combined. So That is why I count body paint as a great piece of art more then a cosplay. I hope you understand. I love body paint but I would do it more as a costume for an event not cosplay...

Boamund ,
Can someone tell me how in the earth_mother_name are men mistreated online? How come I dont get that treatment, and I do find it curious enough becouse no one can spoil my day just by sending something. those guys that bitch about sexual harassment are too weak to handle reality...that comes with fame or great body boohoo :P

Catwhisperer ,
I like the text, nicely written, points out some things about cosplayer harassment in general. But I have to ask: Why you are not a fan of genderbender cosplay? Maybe a topic for a next post :) I would like to point out: Your post was in 2015 not 2014 :D Just a friendly notice :D

Tumang ,
shout out. After reading it all I must confess that most of the male guys are doing it becouse they secretly desire to be *molested even if they pretend to hate it -_- Coming from a friend that is doing it, all the time. One part of blog has caught my attention the most is " Doing stripping in a wig with some makeup on can not be a good cosplay. The cosplay has to be done the way it was meant to look, nothing should be modified or changed on it. " What did you mean exactly and did you know that some make up artists can make all the difference ( to patch up and highlight powers ) no matter how terrible the costume is. Have you seen Kay Pike and her outerwordly skills? How would you cathegorise her... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmJvaXPZ9VA
